BLM Presents Results of the Environmental Assessment and 30-Day Public Comment Period for Newberry EGS Demonstration
Today, the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) presented an Environmental Assessment (EA) and 30-day public comment period for the Newberry EGS Demonstration.
The comment period will start 12/23/11 and end 1/25/12 and is a chance for the public to direct questions and comments to the BLM. Visit the Bureau of Land Management’s Newberry EGS Environmental Assessment page for more information on submitting a comment.
At the end of the 30-day comment period, the BLM will review and consider comments that are submitted. They will then decide whether project plans need to be modified to mitigate a concern raised in those comments.
“We look forward to input from the public regarding our plans to conduct this important demonstration of Enhanced Geothermal Systems technology,” said Will Osborn, Project Manager of the Newberry EGS Demonstration.
The Environmental Assessment is a direct response to the Notice of Intent that was submitted to the BLM in May 2010, and is standard practice in this type of project. The EA is issued by the BLM in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Energy and U.S. Forest Service.
